Meta to Cancel the Social Audio Push from its Treasure!

Meta to Cancel the Social Audio Push

After laying off several employees, Meta is now set to make some changes in its platform – eliminating the audio push. The news is Meta is deleting its audio feature from its group, and it also mentioned how the changes would be implemented by this month.

Meta is currently working on letting its audience know about the changes occurring on the Meta platforms, which is the audio feature is about to bid farewell. Hence, users will be unable to make new audio channels from the end of the week. This is the final remaining element of the company’s social audio push, which made a huge impact as Clubhouse was trending in 2021.

People adore this feature of social audio push and meta ensured it gives the users what they asked for. Last year, Meta claimed to unveil the social audio host like an audio-only room with features like podcasts and Soundbites where the users can create short-form audio clips. Users love podcasts, as they are convenient for them to listen to certain things on the go. Podcasts allow users to listen to anything anytime, without the hassle of stopping and seeing what’s happening.

Even though the company announced such an adoring feature, it now plans to cancel the social audio push. This means the audio push is decreasing in popularity, aligned with other audio-only features that are getting deleted.

Why is the Audio Push Getting Canceled?

Deleting the audio push also means reducing the company’s cost – and thinking this won’t be wrong. Meta has been seen moving one step back with all the features, and it seems like it won’t launch any features anytime soon. Also, let us not forget Meta’s scheme of laying off thousands of employees, in addition to the introduction of meta verified, where you have to pay to be verified. These things indicate that the company is probably not doing so well, and some upcoming or previous projects will be canceled soon. Also, if anything bigger goes off in the coming times, we won’t be surprised.

It is strange to think that something so loving and popular among users during the pandemic is not getting metamorphosed into something dying down. The existence of the audio push, which once was a huge turn-on for podcast makers and listeners, will now cease to exist. However, some say that the audio push was just a pandemic fad that allowed people to remain engaged in something.

Though the Clubhouse has gained popularity and still has a dedicated and loyal audience base, the demand for the audio-only feature is not there anymore – which, in some sense, is wise to cancel. This will save the company money and labor. Meta had been eliminating most of the tools in May 2022, and now is the time to eliminate one more engagement option from your pocket, which leaves Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse standing in the queue. Chances are these two will go on for a few more years, but with the cancellation of the audio push, it might be possible that Clubhouse will run out of money, and let’s see what happens with Twitter 2.0!

What do you think – Is it just a mere strategy to launch something big, or is meta going under losses?
